Minneapolis Fire Station #1

New Fire Station Replaces the City’s oldest Fire Station. The City of Minneapolis hired trusted design partner Hay Dobbs to program, space plan, and represent the City in the development of a new Fire Station #1 to serve downtown Minneapolis. The Station will fit into the lower levels of a full block, mixed use development designed by ESG. Hay Dobbs met with fire department, facilities, and administrative staff at length to discuss full-time staff needs, individual department needs, adjacency, storage, drying, training and vehicular access in the dense downtown city grid. SouthWest Transit Headquarters and Garage Addition Completed

This 91,000 sf facility provides office space, driver support space, garage and maintenance space to support the operations of SouthWest Transit. Hay Dobbs completed this work in a phased approach to maintain operational continuity and integrity while improving the overall function of the facility. About SouthWest Transit In 1986, the SouthWest Minneapolis suburbs of Chaska, Chanhassen, and Eden Prairie chose to opt out of the Metropolitan Transit Commission transit system in accordance with Minnesota State Statutes. Anoka Ramsey Community College Library Completed

Hay Dobbs was selected by Anoka Ramsey Community College from over twelve competing proposals to design the renovation of the Library and the College Services Suites on the Coon Rapids Campus. Construction is now completed on the Library and the transformed facility is open to the community. The space is robustly infused with technology and spaces are designed for a variety of methods of study, research, collaboration and shared learning.

Hay Dobbs wins a third University of Minnesota Project

Hay Dobbs was recently selected by the University of Minnesota to design teaching and learning space on the St. Paul Campus. The project will be done for the College of Food, Sciences and Natural Resource Sciences (CFANS) https://www.cfans.umn.edu/about/about-college, specifically the Department of Agricultural Education. The project will be known as the CHS Teaching and Learning Labs as a result of the generous support for the project provided by CHS Inc. https://www.chsinc.com/. Hay Dobbs to Design Research Support Facility at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities Campus

Hay Dobbs was recently selected by the University of Minnesota out of a competitive field of 13 submissions to design research support space on the Twin Cities Campus. The project will be done for the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI) https://www.ctsi.umn.edu/. The CTSI exists to support and advance the University’s research mission, specifically in the areas of clinical and translational research. Hay Dobbs will work closely with CTSI and the greater university to design a new Support Center within the Phillips Wangensteen Building located in the heart of the Health Services District. The Support Center will maximize the efficiency.

UMD Campus Marker Nearly Completed

Construction is nearly complete on the Hay Dobbs-designed Campus Marker for the University of Minnesota Duluth. The veneer stone will arrive on site in late January and will then be installed to complete the Marker. Hay Dobbs completed the Campus Master Plan in 2013 and has helped to implement several projects including a new Pedestrian and Bicycle Entry and the first Campus Marker. The Campus Marker is located at the intersection of Woodland Avenue and College Street. It is designed with Cor-Ten Steel and Bluestone with a integral concrete wall, footing and foundation system. One of a Kind Public Educational Facility

Minnesota West Community and Technical College – Jackson Campus, held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Hay Dobbs designed Electrical Lineworker Training Facility. This facility is the first of its kind in Minnesota providing training for students in this high demand technical field. Hay Dobbs delivers fresh thinking to rapidly evolving technical education

Cellular manufacturing is a process of manufacturing which is a subsection of just-in-time manufacturing and lean manufacturing. The goal of cellular manufacturing is to move as quickly as possible, and to make a wide variety of similar products, while making as little waste as possible.
